I am now serving in the World Apostolate of Fatima, a member of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, as Custodian of the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of the United States. This is a beautiful hand carved Image of Our Lady of Fatima, carved and painted according to the instructions of Sister Lucia regarding how Our Lady looked when She appeared to her in 1917.
The Statue was blessed by Pope Paul VI and given to our country by the Bishop of Fatima in 1967, and was crowned in the National, Basilica in DC by Cardinal O'Boyle in 1971. Alumna Kristin Kazyak told me she was present at the crowning.
I travel throughout our country presenting the Statue at parishes and teaching about the Message of Fatima, that Pope John Paul II said is more important today than ever. Responding to Our Lady's requests at Fatima appears to be the only way to reverse the moral decline of our country and the world.
Interested alumni can contact me to learn when the Statue will be in their areas and to ask about having their local parishes host a visit of the Statue. Yes, this is one of the miraculous Statues of Our Lady of Fatima that periodically shed tears and to which occasional miracles have been attributed.
Faithfully,
Bill Sockey
